DPW for neighboring town's d HHW dates
There
is no direct cost to you for bringing in waste, however, the cost to the Town
is $50 per car.
Please consolidate waste with neighbors, if possible.
This
collection is operated by Laidlaw Environmental Services. Laidlaw reserves the
right to refuse unidentified material and large amounts of hazardous waste.
For quantities in excess of 25 gallons, please call Town of Darien, Dept. of
Public Works (656-7346).
There
will be a mercury thermometer trade-in this year. Bring yours in and receive
an digital replacement. Remember a gram of mercury (~ the amt. in a thermometer)
can contaminate a 20 acre lake for a year.
HOW TO TRANSPORT THESE MATERIALS SAFELY:
DO Leave materials in original, labeled containers. Tighten caps & lids.
DO Pack containers in sturdy upright boxes and pad with newspaper.
DO Sort & pack separately: paint, pesticides, household cleaners.
DO Pack your car and drive directly to site.
NEVER MIX CHEMICALS. & NEVER SMOKE
while handling hazardous materials.
OTHER COLLECTIONS WILL BE PRINTED IN THE PAPER AS THEY
BECOME KNOWN TO US.
